In the last 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic increased the number of deaths from the cholera epidemic   one and a half times, reaching currently 36 people according to the Ministry of Health of the Dominican Republic. Media was previously known about the 23 fatal cases of infection.

During the week, 132 residents of the republic were infected with cholera, according to the Ministry of Health of the Republic. Once a week earlier were fixed 143 new cases of serious infection. The total number of cases now exceeds half   thousands of human in 1563.

Ministry of Health, due to the increase in the number of victims of cholera, had to strengthen measures on prevention, as well as strengthen control over the further spread of infection.

The first cases   cholera have been recorded in the Dominican Republic in November last year. This infection came to the country from Haiti, where a month before the epidemic began. Cholera, according to recent data, infected about 310,000 Haitians died 5332 cases.

The Government of the Dominican Republic increased sanitary controls at the border with Haiti. However, the infection continues to spread, hitting well in the US and Venezuela. In these countries, cholera outbreaks were localized very quickly.
